Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time, permanent Senior Security Systems Technician to support commercial and institutional clients across the Lower Mainland. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on the installation, service, and troubleshooting of integrated security systems. The work is primarily onsite, with some regional travel required.
This role is suited to an experienced technician who is comfortable working independently, interacting directly with customers, and supporting both new installations and service calls.
Must‑Haves:
- Minimum 5–6 years of hands-on experience installing and servicing commercial security systems
- Proven experience with:
- Video surveillance systems (IP and analog)
- Access control systems
- Intrusion/alarm systems
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals related to security systems
- Experience with both new installations and service/troubleshooting work
- Ability to work safely at heights, including experience operating aerial platform lifts
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to travel locally and regionally as required
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a small technical team
Nice‑to‑Haves:
- Security Workers License (or willingness to obtain one)
- Post-secondary training in electronics, security systems, or a skilled trade
- Manufacturer-specific certifications (access control, CCTV, or alarm platforms)
- Experience working in occupied commercial environments (offices, retail, industrial sites)
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and service commercial security, surveillance, and access control systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues in the field
- Perform system upgrades, expansions, and preventative maintenance
- Terminate and test cabling for security and networked devices
- Work safely with lifts, ladders, and tools in active job sites
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding system functionality and service work
- Complete required documentation, service reports, and job notes
- Collaborate with other technicians and project teams as needed
