Job Overview

Founded in 2016, Elemental Psychotherapy is an award-winning private practice supporting adolescents and adults on their journey of recovery from Trauma-Related Disorders (CPTSD, PTSD, DPDR) and co-occurring mental health challenges - Anxiety, Body Image, Binge and Emotional Eating, and Depression. Elemental Psychotherapy takes a collaborative, humanistic approach, integrating evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, EFT, EMDR, MBSR, MI, Somatic Regulation, Parts Work, Creative Expression and Nature-based therapies. Our desire is to provide safe, holistic, and personalized care for every client.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, Elemental is expanding and seeking passionate, dedicated professionals—Counselling Therapists, Social Workers, Dietitians (CCC, LCT, MSW, RD)—to join our expanding virtual group practice from across Canada - BC, MB, and NB.

As independent contractors, you will enjoy flexible hours, starting with part-time and progressing toward a full-time caseload. Opportunities are available for both in-person and telehealth client sessions. Our practice provides therapists with marketing, recordkeeping, scheduling, consultation, and screening services - allowing you to focus on providing exceptional clinical care while collaborating with a devoted team.

Our Ideal Candidate Is:

  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to trauma-informed, person-centred, and strength-based care.
  • Versed in evidence-based modalities and comfortable working with complex cases.
  • Holds 1-2 years of counselling experience, with sound emotional regulation skills.
  • Model a healthy, intuitive relationship with food (free from food fads and diet culture).
  • Posses an understanding of Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size, Triphasic Approach to Trauma treatment (Safety and Stabilization), and Functional Recovery.
  • Have knowledge or experience utilizing relevant screening and outcome measures.
  • Therapists with lived experience, and demonstrate 3-5 years of sustained recovery.
  • Successful applicants will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing professional development, apply trauma-informed practices, and access professional consultation.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for relevant internship or peer support experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with clients experiencing co-occurring mental health diagnoses, delivering personalized, evidence-based support tailored to each individual’s needs.
  • Experience working with adolescents, families, and/or adults.
  • Knowledge of terminology relevant to healthcare, trauma, eating disorders, and mental health services is helpful.
  • Prior experience with eating disorders and/or trauma disorders is advantageous - training will be made available.
  • Demonstrate strong case management skills and ability to coordinate client care, referrals, utilize third-party booking systems (e.g., Jane), and maintain timely, accurate documentation practices.
  • Engage in ethical practice guidelines and standards of practice, strategies.
  • Healthy professional boundaries, own self-care, positive coping, and consultation.
  • Support clients in developing new skills and behaviours that foster coping skills, a positive relationship with food, enhance safety, and contribute to their recovery goals.
  • Guide clients through experiential activities relevant to their goals, such as practicing grounding skills, planning food exposures, and managing somatic discomfort.
  • Schedule client sessions and maintain records in accordance with current privacy laws ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with treatment team members employing assertive communication skills.
  • Regularly evaluate your own competency and recognize when clients may need a higher level of care or referral to an appropriate provider to best support their well-being.

Qualifications

  • Candidates hold active licensure and/or professional membership in their respective province (BC, MB, NB) and are in good standing.
  • Hold Professional Liability Insurance up to 5M.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships with clients.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and openness to learning, feedback, and professional development.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation model: 70/30 split for counsellors with 5+ years of experience, and 60/40 for newer therapists, with annual earning potential ranging from $40K to $100K.
  • Free professional supervision with Michele L. Gardiner, MAC, CCC, CCTP-II.
  • Minimal fee and complimentary access to resources, tools, and training for continuing professional growth and development in the role.

Hiring Timeline:

  • July start. Our goal is to find individuals who fit the role, the practice team, and Elemental’s philosophy.

Pay: Up to $100.00 per hour
