Junior Software Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking talented junior Software Engineers to join our dynamic DefTech team. Durandal is a new startup located in Charlottesville, VA, primarily focused on Modeling & Simulation, Software Defined Radios, AI/ML research and development, and RF visualization software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize robust and scalable software solutions and systems.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Python and/or C/C++.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define system architecture and design.
• Contribute to the development of internal tools and processes to improve development efficiency.
• Engage in problem-solving and algorithm development, including but not limited to sorting and search algorithms.
• Demonstrate the ability to contribute to projects with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python, with a focus on software engineering best practices.
• Experience with software development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, and familiarity with MSVC/GCC compilers and CMake.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, contributing to a collaborative work culture.
• A keen interest in staying up-to-date with the latest in software development and technology.

• All applicants must be U.S. citizens due to federal contracting requirements.
• We prefer candidates with GPAs above 3.5, with a focus on major GPAs over cumulative GPAs.
