You will be part of a team responsible for building a next-generation, high-performance video platform that enables live sports streaming at a large scale. As a Backend Engineer in the Video Engineering team, your primary focus will be designing and developing distributed systems for real-time ingest, encoding, packaging, storage, and delivery of live video content to millions of fans. This role offers an opportunity to work on deep technical challenges in video systems, distributed backend architectures, and real-time data flows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Video Operations, Player, and Platform teams to ensure high reliability, observability, and exceptional streaming quality.
- Contribute to a lean backend team that has successfully streamed over 50,000 hours of live content.
- Design and build high-performance, scalable software platforms for a global product.
- Develop and take ownership of product components from inception to production, scaling up, supporting new requirements, and re-architectures.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to drive and implement the platform and product vision.
- Explore, assess, and integrate new technologies to enhance development efficiency.
Qualifications Required:
- 47 years of backend engineering experience with Java, Go, Node.js, or equivalent programming languages.
- Proficiency in distributed systems, concurrency, memory-efficient programming, and performance optimization.
- Experience in building REST APIs, microservices, and containerized services using Docker/Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Skilled in debugging within cloud-native environments using logs, metrics, and tracing.
