Accountant/Auditor (Entry to Mid-Level)

Brief Description

DJS Financial Services is seeking a motivated Entry to Mid-Level Accountant/Auditor to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting or auditing professional looking to expand their knowledge through hands-on experience and on-the-job training while supporting a professional internal audit function.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to develop expertise in risk assessment, internal controls, compliance, and financial auditing.

Requirements

The Accountant/Auditor will support internal audit activities by assisting with audit planning, risk assessments, internal control evaluations, documentation, reporting, and continuous process improvement. Working under the guidance of senior audit professionals, the successful candidate will gain valuable experience conducting audits and helping ensure organizational compliance and operational effectiveness.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining a risk-based annual internal audit plan.
• Participate in operational, financial, and compliance audits.
• Evaluate internal controls and identify opportunities to strengthen business processes.
• Document audit procedures, findings, and recommendations.
• Prepare audit work papers and supporting documentation.
• Assist in preparing periodic audit reports that summarize audit activities, observations, and recommendations.
• Monitor corrective action plans and follow up on audit findings as assigned.
• Research accounting standards, regulations, and auditing best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to internal controls and risk management.
• Stay current on emerging trends and leading practices in internal auditing and financial compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting, auditing, finance, or related professional experience (internships may be considered).
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn through on-the-job training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting internal or external audits.
• Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and internal controls.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Progress toward or interest in obtaining a professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE.
