Meet the team:

Dexcom is hiring for a Process Development Engineer I to join our dynamic team in San Diego, CA. In this role within the Global Engineering organization, you will support the development and implementation of manufacturing and test processes for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices. You will contribute to process characterization, experimentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts while collaborating with cross-functional partners across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.

Where you come in:

  • You support the development of process formulations and test methods used in the manufacture and testing of materials and products.

  • You assist in defining processing, handling, equipment, and test requirements with guidance from engineers and cross-functional partners.

  • You plan, execute, and document experiments to characterize new processes and test methods.

  • You compile, trend, and evaluate test data to identify process variables, material contributors, and appropriate limits or specifications.

  • You collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Automation, Software, Analytical Chemistry, and other Engineering teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support implementation of new processes.

  • You prepare technical documentation including protocols, reports, procedures, study summaries, and inputs to risk documentation such as pFMEAs.

  • You participate in design reviews, process reviews, failure investigations, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement activities for new and existing products and processes.

  • You have a foundational understanding of process development, manufacturing processes, test method development, engineering experimentation, and data-driven problem solving.

  • You demonstrate strong hands-on laboratory, manufacturing, or testing capabilities with attention to detail, safety, and documentation.

  • You possess the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions to support engineering decisions and process improvements.

  • You have exposure to Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, root cause analysis, or data visualization tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python, Excel, or similar platforms.

  • You can develop clear technical documentation including protocols, reports, procedures, and study summaries.

  • You demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • You are able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality work.

  • Your curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn enable you to contribute effectively to engineering projects and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Your familiarity with FDA-regulated environments, ISO 13485, or medical device manufacturing is preferred but not required.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 0-2 years of related experience.
