iBwave Solutions, a subsidiary of Corning and the leader in Network Planning software, enabling fast, accurate and cost-effective network designs around the globe, is looking for a talented UI/UX Designer to work collaboratively with its design team. In this role, you will be working with other designers, developers and product owners. Your main responsibility will be envisioning and leveraging the user interface and user experience of our applications.
Role Purpose
We are looking for a savvy and imaginative Intermediate Designer to join our creative team. If you have an eye for design, a passion for creating killer web, mobile and desktop applications and a knack for making things look simple, smart, and cool, we would love to hear from you. In this role, you will be a key player in transforming concepts into high-fidelity designs and prototypes.
You’ll achieve this by:
1. Assisting in advancing our brand through creative on-page design
2. Communicating valuable information to our users through best-in-class, easily navigable designs
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with multiple departments to build designs and action feedback
- Create interactive and shareable prototypes in Figma, that intelligently solve project requirements, to accurately display how the page will function and test design solutions
- Ensure designs work within our design system and that net-new components are added to the library
- Document requirements and effectively communicate the expectations around an interaction to technical teams using task flows, screen flows and site maps
- Ensure designs are built and shipped according to the design, answer any questions and make revisions This includes filling out tickets in our project management tools that accurately describe the design requirements
- Regularly optimize the design of our product, increasing effectiveness and propelling us to a ‘best in class’ user experience
- Manage visual assets and ensure our product’s design is in line with our brand guidelines
- Work from and contribute to the design system and UI pattern library
Required Education
- Passion for user experience, in alignment with current best practices and design trends and insight-based design
- Web and app-savvy and up to date on the latest trends, tools, and methods
- A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in web, mobile and/or desktop UI/UX design, as demonstrated through your portfolio, with an understanding of mobile-first and responsive design
- Creative problem solver with a solutions mindset and a data-driven approach
- Experience working on dynamic teams and collaborating with other developers and design directors
- Success working with front-end developers and strong familiarity with using browser inspectors as well as a basic understanding of HTML/CSS
- Great capacity to communicate ideas and convince people
- Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritize work on multiple projects at the same time with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent documentation, research, and learning skills
- Experience working with brand/style guidelines
- Expert working knowledge of design tools:
Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, etc.
- Good knowledge of prototyping tools:
Axure, Justinmind, UXPin, Figma or Adobe XD, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills. General - iBwave (L4)
- Diploma or relevant post-secondary education an asset
- Experience with agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams
