Role: An exciting and challenging position exists as a Technical Writer at CoolIT. As a member of the team, you would be accountable for the development, editing, and maintenance of clear, concise, and accurate documentation for products, systems, and internal processes. This role involves translating complex technical information into user-friendly content tailored to a variety of audiences, including end users, developers, and internal stakeholders. Working closely with engineering, product, and support teams, you would ensure documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with current functionality, while maintaining consistency in tone, terminology, and formatting across all materials. This is a 2 month remote contract role Responsibilities: Develop user manuals, quick-start guides, and installation instructions for hardware devices Create service manuals and maintenance procedures for technicians Write safety and compliance documentation for regulatory approval Interpret engineering drawings and convert them into clear instructions Collaborate with engineers to document product features, assembly steps, and troubleshooting procedures Update documentation to reflect design changes and product revisions Produce labeled diagrams and illustrations to support written instructions who you are: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor 's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 1-3+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation development Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner Experience with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar) Basic understanding of software development concepts and workflows Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience creating documentation for hardware products such as electronics, devices, or machinery Familiarity with CAD drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards (e.g., ISO, CE marking, UL standards) Experience with illustration or diagram tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Visio) Familiarity with content management systems or documentation platforms Experience working in manufacturing or product development environments Understanding of product lifecycle processes Skills: Technical writing and editing Information organization and content structuring Research and information gathering Attention to detail and accuracy Collaboration and cross-functional communication Time management and ability to meet deadlines Adaptability to new tools and technologies Problem-solving and critical thinking Consistency in style and adherence to documentation standards
