Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Real Estate Appraiser to join our team. Preferred canidate lives in Maryland, DC or Virginia. In this vital role, you will evaluate properties to determine their market value, supporting a wide range of real estate transactions, including sales, refinancing, taxation, and development projects. Your expertise will help ensure accurate property assessments by conducting thorough inspections, analyzing market data, and applying relevant financial and appraisal principles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the integrity of real estate valuation processes while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive property inspections to gather physical and structural data, including measurements, condition assessments, and improvements.
- Collect and analyze market data, comparable sales, and neighborhood trends to support accurate property valuations.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools and other financial software to assist in data collection and spatial analysis.
- Prepare detailed appraisal reports that clearly communicate findings, valuation conclusions, and supporting evidence in compliance with industry standards.
- Apply knowledge of financial concepts such as accounting principles, tax regulations, and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs to support valuation accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to Fair Housing regulations and other relevant legal standards during all appraisal activities.
- Collaborate with clients, lenders, government agencies, and other stakeholders to provide expert opinions on property values and related financial analysis.
Requirements
- Proven experience or education in real estate appraisal, finance, or related fields such as accounting or construction.
- Strong skills in data collection, quantitative research methods, and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with real estate appraisal techniques, including the use of GIS technology and financial software tools.
- Knowledge of tax experience related to property valuation is preferred.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts including math fundamentals necessary for accurate appraisals.
- Experience with LIHTC programs or affordable housing projects is a plus.
- Ability to write clear and comprehensive financial reports that effectively communicate valuation findings.
