Job Description
What Are We Looking For?
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Intermediate Logistics Coordinator with 3–5 years of experience to manage the end-to-end supply chain operations. In this role, you will be the central hub for domestic and international freight, ensuring the seamless movement of goods from procurement to final delivery while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Operational Execution
- Plan and optimize daily transportation schedules across multiple modes, including FTL, LTL, ocean, and air freight.
International Coordination
- Prepare and verify complex global shipping documentation (e.g., Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Certificates of Origin) and interface with customs brokers to ensure timely clearance.
Vendor Management
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers and monitor their performance against key KPIs, such as on-time delivery and cost-efficiency.
Compliance & Traceability
- Ensure all shipments adhere to US and international trade laws, Incoterms, and safety regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA, or TDG/WHMIS).
Process Optimization
- Utilize ERP and TMS platforms to track shipments, manage inventory levels, and identify opportunities for route or cost improvements.
Issue Resolution
- Independently perform root-cause analysis for transit delays or damaged goods and coordinate effective solutions with stakeholders.
Inventory & Repack Management
- Manage inventory levels at offsite locations, administer repack of product via in-house and third parties utilizing ERP software. Ensure inventory and repack accuracy and efficiency.
Strategic Coordination & Optimization
- Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, reduce costs, and suggest process improvements.
- Optimize delivery routes and transportation methods (FTL, LTL, Intermodal) to maximize margins while meeting strict deadlines.
- Resolve complex shipment discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis for recurring delays.
Global Trade & Compliance (International)
- Prepare and process comprehensive customs documentation for international and U.S. shipments.
- Maintain deep knowledge of global trade regulations, tariff classifications, and international shipping standards.
- Act as the primary interface with customs brokers and destination agents to ensure seamless cross-border clearance.
Vendor & Relationship Management
- Champion relationship management with key carriers and suppliers to negotiate favourable rates and service terms.
- Source and qualify new carriers to expand network capacity and ensure load coverage.
Job Terms
- Job Type: Permanent Full-time
- Probationary Period: 3-months or 480 hours, whichever longer
- Work Location: Etobicoke ON
- Shift Requirement: Monday to Friday 5:00am starts, Sunday 6:00am starts. (Due to nature of position and time differences internationally, there may be the occasion where after hours calls may need to be taken)
- Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 CAD per year
- Benefits: Group Benefits entitlement upon completion of probation time
Qualifications
- Professional Background: 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain coordination, including direct exposure to international shipping.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of international shipping, tariff classifications, and cross-border customs procedures and required documentation (permits, food safety documents, customs paperwork etc.).
- Core Competencies: Exceptional multitasking skills, professional communication, and the ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure.
