Role: Jr Software Asset Management Analyst
Contract duration: 4mo (very strong probability of extension or converting to a Perm F/T)
Location: Toronto downtown (can be remote for the right candidate)
Start date: ASAP (urgent requirement)
Whom we are looking for: Jr SAM or recent IT grad with a software engineering [or similar] degree who has at least 6 month of practical experience at one of the big 5 Canadian banks and has strong proficiency with excel and data entry and data analysis; Go getter with strong communication skills
Main Deliverables
- Maintain accurate software asset records in ServiceNow
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and reporting using Excel
- Support software asset lifecycle tracking and inventory accuracy
- Ensure data integrity across software asset datasets
Technical Stack
- ServiceNow (ITAM / SAM modules – nice to have)
- Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, filtering, sorting, basic analysis) - MUST-HAVE
- Data management & reconciliation techniques
- Software asset tracking / inventory tools
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or related field
- 0–2 years of experience (internship, co-op, or entry-level) in IT, data analysis, or asset management
- Strong Excel skills for data manipulation and analysis
- Ability to work with large datasets and perform data validation
- Exposure to IT environments (academic or co-op), ideally within a financial institution
- Basic understanding of software asset management or licensing concepts (preferred)
- Experience with ServiceNow (preferred, not required)
Responsibilities
- Upload and maintain software asset records in ServiceNow
- Validate and cleanse data to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Perform Excel-based analysis to identify discrepancies and support reporting
- Assist with tracking software inventory and lifecycle activities
- Support SAM processes, documentation, and data governance practices
- Work with stakeholders to collect and verify asset data
- Identify and implement improvements to data quality processes
- Support ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
