Join Our Team as an Accounting Assistant

A leader in high-quality architectural millwork for 50 years is seeking a passionate and results-driven Accounting Assistant to join our team. Based in the mid-Atlantic area, we specialize in creating unique spaces in commercial buildings and are proud to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
What You’ll Do
As an Accounting Assistant, you’ll support the finance department by accurately processing, recording, and verifying data used to process and pay vendors and employees. Your key responsibilities will include:
Payroll
- Review time sheets for accuracy and completeness and follow up on missing or unapproved time.
- Reconcile expense reports and submit for approval.
- Submit weekly certified payroll reports.
Accounts Payable
- Respond to external vendors and internal clients regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for payment, open purchase orders, and resale certificates.
- Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices using a three-way match.
- Enter invoices into Starbuilder accounting system, accurately reflecting discounts, posting periods, and due dates.
- Produce reports for weekly disbursements and open items for review by financial officer.
- Review monthly vendor statements and address outstanding invoices.
- Monitor open purchase orders to ensure invoices as posted correctly and are closed when paid in full.
What We’re Looking For
- 1-2 years' experience in accounts payable (construction industry a plus)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel skills
- Ability to quickly learn new software packages
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and investigative skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment with changing demands and timelines
- Desire to learn and assume increasing responsibilities
