We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our Dental Sleep Medicine and TMJ practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the team to help patients get treatment for their Obstructive Sleep Apnea and TMJ challenges.

This is not typical dental assisting - this is more of a medically focused position, using your dental assisting skills as part of a team that helps patients improve their quality of life by treating their Sleep Apnea and addressing their TMJ concerns.

This position will be 2-4 days per week to start. Training for first 3-6 months may include travel to Poquoson or Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and materials, and record notes into patient chart during the exam.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Manage appointment scheduling, including coordinating with the dental receptionist for efficient patient flow.
• Ensure the cleanliness and sterilization of dental instruments and treatment areas.
• Educate patients on home care instructions.
• Collaborate with the dental team to ensure high-quality patient care and satisfaction.

Skills

• Proficiency in medical or dental software systems is preferred.
• Experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with medical terminology related to dentistry.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining medical documentation.
• Ability to adhere to HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
