Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Platform)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're an early-stage, True Ventures–backed startup using AI to modernize back-office operations for material manufacturers in the US. Our platform deploys AI agents that automate procurement, logistics, supplier sourcing, and demand planning — aggregating supplier data into a live graph that manufacturing teams use to run their operations.

As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Platform), you'll build the core software layer that enables autonomous manufacturing operations. This is a high-ownership, central role: you'll design scalable backend services, intelligent data pipelines, and integrations with ERP and freight systems that move physical goods reliably. You'll also coordinate AI-powered agents and high-stakes transaction processing across complex manufacturing workflows.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design and scale backend services: Architect Next.js API routes, background jobs, and serverless functions that handle high-throughput order processing.
• Build AI-powered agents: Develop and productionize LLM-based agents, AI/ML infrastructure, and RAG patterns for intelligent quote analysis and supplier recommendations.
• Own the data layer: Design Supabase/PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and complex queries for materials, quotes, orders, and supplier relationships.
• Architect event-driven systems: Build reliable pipelines for order state management, notification triggers, and cross-system synchronization.
• Implement caching and rate limiting: Design strategies for external API calls to ensure reliability at scale.
• Drive platform reliability: Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability patterns; own incident response for backend systems.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• Experience working within the supply chain domain (manufacturing, procurement, sourcing, or logistics).
• Strong CS fundamentals — all educational backgrounds are welcome.

Strongly valued:

• Experience designing reliable data processing with transactional guarantees: ACID semantics, exactly-once processing, and idempotent APIs.
• Experience with NLP/ML pipelines to extract data from unstructured documents and emails, including OCR and information extraction.
• Domain knowledge of manufacturing supply chain, procurement, and logistics workflows.
• Experience integrating with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and freight/carrier APIs, including legacy or poorly documented interfaces.

Tech stack: TypeScript, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, LLMs, vector databases, RAG architectures, CI/CD, containerization, AWS, RESTful patterns.

We're open to a range of experience levels — roughly 2–10+ years — and will calibrate seniority (Senior or Staff) based on your background.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Salary: $160,000 – $250,000 USD annually, depending on seniority and experience.
• Early-stage equity in a funded, high-growth company.

LOCATION

This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates should be prepared to work from the office.
