Job Description
Childress Solutions/Veterans Choice is seeking a skilled and experienced Low Voltage Crew Lead to oversee the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and service of access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems across commercial and industrial environments.
Relevant experience is REQUIRED. We have other entry-level positions available as well!
This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced technician who can both lead a crew and actively participate in system installation and commissioning. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of low voltage wiring, security system hardware, system programming, and field troubleshooting, and takes pride in delivering high-quality installations that meet client expectations and industry standards.
As a Crew Lead, you will coordinate field activities, ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently, and maintain the high level of workmanship our clients expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise technicians during the installation, maintenance, and repair of access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems.
- Install and terminate low voltage cabling including Cat6, composite, fiber, alarm wire, and control wiring.
- Install and configure door hardware, card readers, control panels, cameras, NVRs, and alarm devices.
- Program, test, and commission access control systems, video surveillance systems, and intrusion detection systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues involving wiring, networking, devices, and system software.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts to ensure accurate installation.
- Coordinate field activities including cabling pathways, conduit runs, equipment mounting, and system integration.
- Conduct site assessments and collaborate with project managers and contractors to ensure installations meet project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with NEC standards, safety protocols, and company installation practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation including system configurations, as-builts, and daily job reports.
- Mentor and train technicians to maintain high standards of workmanship, efficiency, and safety.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and clients regarding project progress and system performance.
Required Experience
- 8+ years of experience installing low voltage security systems.
- 4+ years leading crews or acting as a lead technician on security system projects.
- Strong experience installing and servicing:
- Access Control Systems
- CCTV / IP Video Surveillance
- Intrusion Alarm Systems
- Ability to program, configure, and troubleshoot security systems, not just install hardware.
- Solid understanding of structured cabling, low voltage wiring methods, and cable pathways.
- Experience reading construction drawings, system diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting ability with networked security devices and integrated systems.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Experience
Experience with enterprise security platforms such as:
- Lenel
- Genetec
- Avigilon
- Brivo
- OpenPath
- Verkada
- Honeywell / Bosch / DSC
Experience with fiber optic installation, networking fundamentals, and commercial construction environments is a plus.
