Plant Manager (Chemical / Organic Chemistry Background Required )

About the Role

We are looking for a chemistry-first Plant Manager to lead operations at our specialty chemicals manufacturing facility in Sachin, Surat.

This is not a purely administrative role.

We are specifically seeking someone with a strong foundation in organic chemistry and chemical processes, who can combine technical depth with on-ground leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end plant operations including production, quality, safety, and dispatch
• Apply organic chemistry knowledge to monitor reactions, troubleshoot processes, and improve yields
• Supervise batch manufacturing, reactors, and process scale-ups
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, compliance, and environmental standards
• Lead and manage plant staff including operators, supervisors, and technicians
• Coordinate with procurement and management for raw materials, planning, and timelines
• Drive process optimization, cost efficiency, and waste reduction
• Maintain accurate production documentation and reporting

Who We’re Looking For

Educational Background (Must-Have):

• BSc / MSc in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry preferred)
• Chemical Engineering candidates with strong chemistry fundamentals may also apply

Experience

• 4–10 years in chemical manufacturing / plant operations
• Hands-on experience with reactors, batch processing, or specialty chemicals
• Experience in dyes, intermediates, solvents, or similar industries is a strong plus

Core Skills Required

• Strong understanding of organic reactions and process chemistry
• Ability to troubleshoot reactions and production issues on the floor
• Leadership and team management skills
• Practical knowledge of plant safety and compliance
• High ownership and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

What This Role Is NOT

Not suitable for candidates with only MBA / general management backgrounds

Not a desk-based role – requires daily involvement on the plant floor

Location Requirement

This role is on-site in Sachin, Surat

Preference will be given to candidates based in Gujarat or willing to relocate immediately
