Duties
- Set up and operate manual and CNC-controlled boring mills, to machine complex parts with high precision.
- Interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machining processes.
- Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and perform necessary adjustments for optimal performance.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Maintain machine calibration by performing routine inspections with tools like dial indicators and bore gauges.
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery, troubleshoot issues promptly, and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Assist in tooling selection and setup, including hand tools and specialized tooling for specific machining tasks.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with CNC programming languages is a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles to ensure parts meet precise specifications.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines confidently.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances necessary for machining operations.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and assembly tools safely.
