Job Description
Title: Technical Product Manager
Baltimore, Wilmington, NC, or NYC
Hybrid - 3 days
Contract to perm
Our client is looking for a highly technical Product Manager to drive roadmap and delivery of key
services required to support our customer’s application journey and offer generation
process.
This role partners closely with Engineering Managers, who retain ownership of team
execution, delivery planning, and people management, while this Product Manager owns
feature definition, why they matter, and how they are prioritized across teams to meet
measurable product and business outcomes.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between business objectives and engineering
implementation, focusing specifically on managing complex dependencies across
multiple product teams. You will act as the "API" between product strategy and cross-team
engineering execution, ensuring high-frequency, reliable releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Dependency Management & Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify, track, and
manage cross-team dependencies to ensure on-time delivery of technical
milestones. Surface priority trade-offs with options and key factors for decisions.
- Technical Roadmap Ownership: Work closely with the lead product manager to
understand strategic goals, while owning prioritization and trade-offs for the
cross-team technical roadmap.
- Bridge to Engineering: Partner with Engineering Managers and Tech Leads to shape
and document architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with product outcomes
and cross-team contracts.
- Data Standards: Partner with engineering and data teams to design, evolve, and
govern data models that ensure consistent, well-structured, and well-documented
data models that support scalable systems, analytics, and downstream consumers.
- Product Evangelism: Serve as the internal advocate for initiatives, articulating the
"why" behind features to technical stakeholders and the “why” behind technical
investments to non-technical stakeholders.
What You'll Need (Requirements)
- Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Technical Product
Manager, Technical Program Manager, or development team member.
[OneMain Limited Use]
- Technical Fluency: Ability to understand system architecture, data pipelines,
microservices, and contract design. While not required to code, you must be able to
discuss technical tradeoffs with engineers.
- Dependency Mapping: Proven ability to manage dependencies in complex, multiteam
environments using tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate
technical constraints into business impact, and vice versa.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in the financial industry
- Background in software engineering or systems architecture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with containerization and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
- Experience in architecture modernization projects and iterative greenfield
development.
Why You’ll Succeed
- You value proactive, "no-surprise" communication with your product and
engineering teams.
- You possess a strong "product mindset" and can balance short-term feature
demands with long-term platform stability.
- You build relationships and trust with colleagues across teams.
- You appreciate the value of building shared terminology and finding a way to ensure
mutual understanding across colleagues that have different technical backgrounds
and expertise.
- You foster trust and respect by including engineers in the "why" of product
development.
