Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Esperanza Center is seeking a Community Engagement Outreach Coordinator to strengthen Esperanza Center's community connections through volunteer engagement, partnerships, outreach and events. The position oversees volunteer recruitment, training, reporting, and recognition and helps plan mission-driven events, ensuring all experiences reflect the Center's compassion, professionalism and mission. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 9 AM - 5 PM with flexibility required for weekends or evenings for community engagement events.
The Esperanza Center is a comprehensive resource center whose mission is to welcome immigrants by offering home, compassionate services and the power to improve their lives. Since 1963, immigrants from all over the world have trusted the Esperanza Center to help them navigate life in a new country. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide services related to education, healthcare, immigration legal matters, family reunification for unaccompanied immigrant children, and general community support to thousands of immigrants each year.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents Esperanza Center at civic and community engagement events, serving as a professional and mission-centered ambassador.
- Builds and enhances relationships with universities, healthcare providers, faith-based organizations, and community service agencies to increase volunteer engagement and collaborative opportunities, including participating in in-person meetings and events.
- Coordinates group service projects in collaboration with Catholic Charities Mission Integration and Esperanza Center leadership to align volunteer efforts with organizational priorities.
- Participates in Agency social media committees, supporting the development of engaging outreach and promotional content.
- Fosters a welcoming, inclusive, and mission-driven culture, ensuring volunteers and partners feel valued, connected, and meaningfully engaged with Esperanza Center.
- Develops and implements an annual volunteer engagement plan, accountable for recruitment, onboarding, training, recognition, and retention outcomes throughout parish communities or at the Esperanza Center.
- Plans and facilitates regular on-site volunteer training sessions, ensuring all new volunteers are prepared, informed, and aligned with program expectations prior to service.
- Maintains accurate volunteer records in Better Impact and related systems and produces regular volunteer impact and utilization reports to support program evaluation and planning.
- Matches volunteers to programs strategically, aligning volunteer interests and skills with program needs to maximize impact and satisfaction.
- Provides ongoing communication, supervision, and recognition, ensuring a positive, mission-aligned volunteer experience and sustained engagement.
- Partners with the Program Director to plan and execute key engagement events, including the Annual Volunteer Thanksgiving Lunch, Volunteer Appreciation Day, and Catholic Charities AWARE events.
- Coordinates all event logistics, including in-kind donations, timelines, agendas, vendor and venue coordination, volunteer staffing and hours, guest registration, and post-event evaluation to ensure successful outcomes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Four (4) years of responsible and relevant experience in community engagement, volunteer coordination, outreach, or partnership development

- Possesses a foundational understanding of clerical procedures and systems, including managing Outlook calendars, email, and recordkeeping.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- No remote or hybrid work availability based on core and essential functions of the position.
- Flexibility may be required to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Remaining in a stationary position, which may involve standing or sitting for extended periods, as required to complete tasks or duties associated with the role.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or transitioning between different event sites, which may involve walking, standing, or traveling to various locations as required by the role.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or repositioning items as necessary to perform job duties.
- Engaging in communication with others to exchange information, which may involve speaking, listening, writing, or using electronic communication methods to ensure clear and effective understanding. This includes both verbal and non-verbal interactions with colleagues, clients, or external parties.
- Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, including tasks such as typing, data entry, or handling small objects. These repetitive activities may occur throughout the workday and require attention to ergonomics to ensure comfort and minimize strain.
- Hearing and vision abilities, with or without correction, sufficient to drive safely and effectively observe and communicate with others.
- Driving (personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede drivers’ ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
- May involve working in various outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and high winds. Employees may be exposed to these elements for extended periods. Protective gear such as waterproof clothing, warm layers, or wind-resistant apparel will be necessary to ensure comfort and safety while performing job duties in inclement weather
