Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer(Remote - Independent Contractor) Department: Online Learning Capitol Technology University Capitol Technology University invites qualified applicants for a remote independent contractor position as an Instructional Designer/eLearning Developer to support the development of online asynchronous and synchronous academic programs. This position requires the use of the contractor's own devices to complete all deliverables. Portfolio submission is required for consideration. Applicants must demonstrate prior experience designing and developing online learning experiences using current instructional technologies and authoring tools. Position Summary: The Instructional Designer will design and build interactive, learner-centered courses and training materials for certificate, undergraduate, and graduate programs. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, works independently with minimal supervision, and has experience working with faculty or SMEs to translate content into accessible, outcomes-driven online learning modules. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop interactive and accessible online learning experiences Create structured, well-organized course content using instructional design best practices Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define learning objectives and aligncontent Develop course maps, storyboards, assessments, and learning activities Produce digital assets using tools such as Articulate 360, Canvas LMS, and AdobeCreative Cloud Integrate multimedia, knowledge checks, and performance-based assessments Apply instructional frameworks such as ADDIE and SAM in course development Ensure all deliverables meet accessibility (Section 508/504), SCORM, and institutionalcompliance standards Maintain clear communication with faculty and project leads Contribute to the development of student and faculty training modules Meet assigned deadlines and manage workload independently Perform other duties as assigned to support instructional goals Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Digital Media, or arelated discipline Minimum of 3 years of instructional design experience in higher education or corporatelearning Demonstrated expertise in Articulate 360, Canvas LMS, Adobe Creative Cloud, andMicrosoft Teams Experience designing for various delivery formats (on-ground, synchronous,asynchronous) Strong project management skills and experience collaborating remotely Ability to work independently under tight deadlines with limited resources Access to a reliable computer and internet connection capable of supporting multimediaproduction Flexible availability, including some evening hours Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with faculty and staff in a higher education setting Familiarity with HTML5, LTI tools, and RESTful APIs Knowledge of Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric (6th edition or later) Master of Science in Instructional Design or related discipline Note: This is a 1099 contractor position. Contractors are responsible for their own equipment, software, and workspace. A portfolio or sample of previous work is required to be considered.
