Role Description
You will be responsible for inspiring students, from beginners learning basic moves to more advanced players developing competitive skills. This role requires the ability to blend fundamental instruction with higher-level strategy in an engaging online learning environment. You will primarily teach children in one-on-one or small-group classes. In addition to chess instruction, the role also involves supporting students’ English exposure and communication development through interactive learning. Candidates with additional teaching skills, such as Rubik’s Cube instruction, are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging and age-appropriate online lessons in chess theory, opening principles, middle-game tactics, and endgame strategy.
- Coaching: Provide personalized, one-on-one coaching and small-group training to help students strengthen their understanding of the game and improve their performance.
- Curriculum: Utilize or develop a structured curriculum designed to systematically improve students’ skills, strategic thinking, and overall understanding of chess.
- Class Management: Maintain a fun, focused, and disciplined online learning environment that encourages deep strategic thinking, confidence, and sportsmanship.
- Student Development: Support students at different levels, adapting teaching methods to their age, learning pace, and goals.

Required Qualifications
- Chess Experience: Strong chess knowledge is required, with experience in competitive play, coaching, or formal chess instruction strongly preferred.
- Chess Skill Level: A current or former chess rating, such as FIDE, USCF, Chess.com, or Lichess, is highly desirable and demonstrates a strong grasp of advanced concepts.
- Teaching Experience: Minimum of 2 years of formal teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience with children or young adults.
- English Skills: Excellent spoken and written English skills are required, with clear pronunciation, natural fluency, and the ability to communicate effectively with children and parents in an online learning environment.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Strong knowledge of openings, tactical motifs, and endgame strategy, with the ability to teach concepts clearly and effectively.
- Online Teaching Ability: Comfortable teaching in an online setting, with a strong on-camera presence and the ability to engage young learners virtually.
