Job Description
As the Regional Legal Counsel at Caldic, based in Mumbai, India, your role will involve managing commercial contracts and supporting legal and compliance initiatives across India and the broader APAC region. Reporting to the Legal & Compliance Director, APAC, you will be responsible for the following key areas:
- **Contract Management**:
- Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, distribution and agency agreements, procurement-related contracts, and other commercial documentation.
- Provide practical legal advice to the business on contract interpretation, risk allocation, and compliance with internal contracting standards and approval processes.
- Assist in the rollout and utilization of contract templates and contract management guidelines across the region.
- **Compliance Support & Coordination**:
- Act as a point of contact for compliance queries from the business and support the management of compliance matters in the region.
- Assist in identifying and assessing potential compliance issues, supporting internal compliance initiatives and investigations under the guidance of the APAC Legal & Compliance Director.
- Support the regional implementation of global compliance policies and procedures, including anti-bribery & corruption, trade compliance, data privacy, and other applicable compliance frameworks.
- Aid in compliance trainings, policy rollouts, and awareness initiatives at the country and regional levels.
- **Regional Projects**:
- Provide legal and compliance support for APAC specific projects and initiatives, such as integration projects, assets, or legal entity structuring projects.
- Support Legal Department efficiency initiatives, including digitization, process improvement, and standardization of legal and compliance workflows.
Your skills should include being curious, detail-oriented, well-organized, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also have a mature personality, be a team player, and have the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues within Caldic worldwide.
To qualify for this role, you need to be a qualified lawyer with 5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a reputable multinational corporation (experience in the manufacturing and/or distribution industry is highly desirable). Prior experience in a reputable law firm would be a plus. You should be able to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and excel in a fast-paced environment. Excellent command of the English language is essential.
