The global Marketing & Business Development (M&BD) function supports a wide range of initiatives, including practice-focused business development, client and industry programs, strategic pitches and pursuits, corporate communications (PR, brand, events, and digital), and firmwide campaigns and projects. This role works closely with regional and international teams.
The Energy, Environment, and Transportation regulatory practices advise clients navigating rapidly evolving markets shaped by new power generation models, mobility solutions, and emerging business frameworks. This role partners with practice leadership to advance business development and marketing efforts across these sectors on a global scale.
Marketing & Business Development Delivery
- Manage legal directory and award submissions
- Lead development of pitches and credentials, including drafting and sourcing content
- Oversee client events, webinars, conferences, and sponsorships
- Coordinate client alerts and track engagement metrics
- Manage special projects (e.g., website and credentials reviews)
- Respond to internal practice and partner requests
Planning & Budgeting
- Support Practice Area Leaders in developing global business plans and budgets
- Conduct market analysis to inform strategic planning
- Monitor implementation of M&BD initiatives and report on performance and progress
Pitches & Credentials
- Liaise with partners across the U.S., EMEA, and other regions to develop proposals and credentials
- Participate in the full pitch process, ensuring best practices and high-quality output
- Develop bespoke client materials and presentations
- Maintain pitch tracking systems, monitor success rates, and recommend improvements
- Coordinate post-pitch feedback processes
Client Development & Targeting
- Support client targeting initiatives and account development strategies
- Encourage effective use of CRM systems (e.g., InterAction)
- Collaborate with client development teams on analysis and strategic initiatives
- Serve as Client Account Manager for select key clients
Communications & Profile Raising
- Support global thought leadership campaigns and reporting
- Manage submissions to directories, trade publications, and legal rankings
- Execute integrated BD strategies across events, digital, and communications channels
- Draft and edit marketing content, including newsletters, alerts, and web copy
- Collaborate with PR and BD teams to enhance partner and practice visibility
Knowledge Sharing & Systems Management
- Maintain internal systems for matters, pitches, credentials, and web content
- Manage centralized BD resources, including pitch logs and intranet content
- Partner with knowledge teams to identify BD and communications opportunities
- Analyze marketing activity performance and provide recommendations for improvement
Wider M&BD Initiatives
- Contribute to firmwide marketing and business development projects
- Participate in broader strategic initiatives and programs, including responsible business efforts
- Adapt responsibilities as needed to support evolving business needs and team structures
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of marketing and business development experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of BD processes, client development, and regulated industries (energy, environment, transportation preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders
- Proactive, team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
