Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly efficient Architectural Drafter / Permit Set Specialist to produce complete, permit-ready construction drawings that align with our fast-paced development pipeline. This role is critical in translating internal concepts into code-compliant, buildable plans and coordinating seamlessly with our structural engineers and construction team.

This is a production-focused role—not conceptual design. Speed, accuracy, and real-world buildability are key.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce full permit sets: site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details
• Translate internal layouts, markups, and concepts into code-compliant drawings
• Coordinate directly with external structural engineers to integrate stamped structural plans
• Revise plans based on internal redlines, jurisdictional comments, and permit feedback
• Ensure drawings meet local zoning and building code requirements (DC, MD, VA region preferred)
• Standardize and optimize drawing templates for repeatable project types
• Support value engineering efforts by aligning drawings with cost-effective construction methods
• Maintain organized drawing files and version control across multiple active projects

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience producing permit sets for residential or light commercial construction
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Solid understanding of building codes, zoning, and permitting workflows
• Experience coordinating with structural engineers and construction teams
• Ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in real estate development or design-build environments
• Familiarity with DC, Maryland, and Virginia permitting processes
• Knowledge of wood framing, multifamily layouts, and renovation-heavy projects
• Experience producing repeatable plan sets for scaling development operations

Compensation & Structure:

• Contract or full-time (based on fit)
• Hourly or per-project pricing available
