Job Summary
BCIT’s School of Health Sciences requires a temporary, part-time (0.2) Faculty to help in the delivery of the Food Technology diploma program. The Faculty will be responsible for advising students as part of Food 4395 Directed Studies for Food Technology (Practicum).
Food Technology students in the final term of the program will work on an appropriate industry-related project. With direction from the industry sponsor and supervision from a faculty advisor, the student will conduct a literature review, develop detailed methodology, write progress reports, and communicate results in a final oral presentation and written technical report. The course will allow students to apply knowledge gained from other courses, and to establish links with members of the food industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver courses, including lectures, labs and marking.
- Liaise with students and industry as required.

Qualifications
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelors or equivalent, Masters preferred.
- Familiar with the BC food processing industry, regulatory requirements, food analysis, HACCP, GFSI programs, food processing, and food microbiology.
- 5 years of work experience in the food industry is preferred.
- Understanding of various learning styles and teaching strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Professional attitudes which stress commitment, responsibility for professional growth, open-mindedness, and flexibility.
