As PR and Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for shaping and amplifying our clients key drone service brand narratives to further their customer awareness for Drone as a Service (DaaS) in the US geographies.
Working with the Corporate Communications, Marketing and Business Development team leaders, you will shape their external communications, media relations and thought leadership initiatives in your geography leveraging external messaging, media and executive visibility, social, web, and content marketing strategies. This is a critical role that blends amplification of their messaging with hands-on execution across storytelling, public relations, and content channels.
Key Responsibilities
Public Relations & Media:
- Execute comprehensive PR strategies to boost visibility across tech, business, and trade media that furthers our brand and company key messaging.
- Build and manage relationships with journalists, analysts, bloggers, and influencers in your geography.
- Secure media coverage for product launches, company milestones, executive thought leadership, and industry insights working alongside our global corporate communications and marketing team.
- Write and distribute localized content, media pitches, bylined articles, and blog content.
- Coordinate interviews, press briefings, speaking engagements, and media events.
Corporate Communications and Marketing Campaigns:
- Create and manage clear, consistent messaging across all public-facing materials consistent with our corporate messaging and brand for our subsidiary companies.
- Support internal communications, marketing campaigns and external conferences/events by working with cross functional internal teams.
- Develop and manage messaging frameworks, media kits, and crisis communication playbooks based on our brand and messaging standards
- Work closely with leadership to prepare talking points, op-eds, presentations, and speeches.
Strategic Content & Storytelling:
- Drive brand storytelling across platforms and brands and ensure alignment with company values, marketing campaigns and goals.
- Identify opportunities for local engagement for our DaaS locations, community development, thought leadership, and industry recognition.
- Collaborate with our global social, product marketing, and content teams to amplify messages across channels.
- Coordinate with our internal teams working on multi-media campaigns that include video and web content developed for multiple channels.
Measurement & Analysis:
- Monitor media coverage and industry sentiment; provide regular reporting and analysis on PR and communications performance.
- Leverage company and third-party tools for execution and to track outreach and impact.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in communications and/or PR, ideally in a tech company or agency serving tech clients.
- Proven success in securing high-impact media coverage and managing strategic communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, and messaging skills with a reference to published work.
- Strong understanding of media relations, storytelling, and brand positioning.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and work cross-functionally with global teams.
- Experience working with executive teams and managing agency partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in B2B or enterprise technology and supporting B2B sales teams.
- Familiarity with global communications and regional market nuances.
- Understanding of social media strategy, content marketing, and SEO.
- Experience managing communications for public companies or high-visibility brands.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with initiative that thrives in a high teamwork environment.
Onsite position based in Toronto,
Occasional travel to tradeshows in the US.
$75,000 - $80,000 per annum.
