Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board’s Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board’s internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.

Qualifications - External

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) Tech Team is looking for a creative and tech-savvy graduate-level student to join our innovative team.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct user interviews and usability testing
  • Create sleek design documents that shape our digital products
  • Collaborate with developers on UX/UI implementation
  • Test new features and contribute to improving our UX/UI processes
  • Work on multiple exciting projects across our development team

What We're Looking For

  • UX/UI Expertise: Strong skills in user research, interface design, and usability testing
  • Technical Acumen: Familiarity with design tools and basic understanding of development processes
  • Collaborative Approach: Ability to work effectively with both designers and developers
  • Adaptability: Quickly learns new tools and processes as required by different projects
  • Task Management Skills: Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicates design rationale and user needs to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program, graduating from their program December 2026 or later. Proof of enrollment will be required.
  • Available for 40-hrs/week during summer 2026, with on-site presence at our offices in Downtown Washington, D.C.
  • During the school semester, this internship can be completed remotely.
