Job Description
An individual in this position should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as, a high technical/engineering ability. A background in mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline is required. Experience in technical sales, field/job-site conditions in construction and previous experience in the HVAC industry are a plus.
Primary Functions

- Perform supporting role for all Sales Representatives within the company.
- Read and interpret technical specifications and plans developed for constructing/renovating a commercial building.
- Ability to apply common HVAC unit components in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, as well as industry standards.
- Identify and resolve any and all operational issues
- Provide input to installing contractors or service entities to expedite the resolution of equipment operational issues.
- Provide support to commissioning agencies for new HVAC system installs. Take lead as responsible party for resolving all punch list items related to HVAC equipment.
- Commission and troubleshoot various types of new commercial and industrial HVAC Equipment installations including the following systems (factory training will be provided):
▪ VRV ▪ Rooftop Units
▪ Chillers ▪ Air Handlers
▪ Water Source Heat Pumps ▪ DX Split Systems
▪ Factory Controls Systems ▪ VFDs
- Provide owner training for new equipment installs.
- Provide operational support for customers as needed to assist customers with understanding their equipment.
- Inspect projects prior to startup services and inspect projects on a regular basis to verify proper installation of our equipment.
- Provide support to installing contractors, be the “factory equipment expert” to the contractor, be a point of contact to answer questions on how to install the equipment.
- Author technical investigation reports to be communicated with owners, manufacturers, architects, consulting engineers, installing contractors and commissioning agencies as needed.
- Work closely with manufacturers to report application, operational or quality issues with their equipment products. Take the lead on driving issues to a robust resolution.

- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in technical writing that will be utilized in all forms of internal and field communication
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- General computer knowledge with emphasis in the following software applications: Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Superior understanding of HVAC systems is a plus
- Will consider a recent engineering graduate without HVAC experience
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to create and manage your own schedule to best support our customers
- Great organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks on-time.
- Ability to travel daily to local job sites (within ~3 hours’ drive one way)
- Have the ability to remain at job sites as needed beyond an 8-hour work day
- Ability to travel overnight to manufacturer training sessions as well as the occasional out-of-state job site
- Ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical employees and customers.
- Ability to attend local community college to attain an HVAC Journeyman’s License
- Costs for this training will be paid by Thermal Equipment Sales
- Employee will be paid a salary and will attend classes during normal working hours while also performing work when not in class
Qualifications And Experience:
- Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Bachelor degrees in other engineering disciplines will be considered
- Good driving record with current driver’s license

- Physical ability to visit construction sites and owner’s buildings as needed. Including, the ability to climb a ladder when needed to access rooftop equipment
- Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds: Be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices)
