Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and document residents’ health status by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and medical equipment.
- Provide emotional support through active listening, companionship, and engaging residents in social activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies or incidents.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home health care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s), memory care, autism support, and hospice care is advantageous.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s ;.
- Strong communication skills with an understanding of care plans and working collaboratively with healthcare teams.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is highly valued.
