About the Role

Most AI roles focus on building models. This one defines how AI actually gets deployed into mission systems. This is a high-visibility role where architecture decisions directly impact mission outcomes. Blackrock Strategy, Inc. is hiring a Chief Engineer–level/ Senior Systems Engineer to lead the architecture, integration, and alignment of AI/ML capabilities across a complex, multi-organization defense ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of:

• AI/ML-enabled systems
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• Mission-critical system architecture

You won’t just contribute. You’ll set technical direction across organizations.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive system architecture for AI-enabled mission systems
• Align technical direction across government, research, and engineering stakeholders
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into scalable, real-world systems
• Translate complex technical challenges into clear guidance for leadership
• Identify risks early and shape decisions that impact mission success

You will work directly with leading organizations such as MIT Lincoln Laboratory and Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, alongside government leadership and mission partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in systems engineering within DoW, IC, or advanced R&D environments
• Background in AI/ML-enabled systems or software
• Hands-on experience with MBSE (SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw, or similar)
• Ability to operate across multiple stakeholders and communicate at a senior level
• Active TS clearance (SCI eligible)

Required Skills

• Experience in systems engineering within DoD, IC, or advanced R&D environments
• Background in AI/ML-enabled systems or software
• Hands-on experience with MBSE (SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw, or similar)
• Ability to operate across multiple stakeholders and communicate at a senior level
• Active TS clearance (SCI eligible)

This is not a heads-down engineering role.

This is a technical leadership position with real influence.
