Role Description This is a part-time, remote role for Nova Scotia Licensed Private Investigators at BlackBay Security and Investigations. You must be licensed in Nova Scotia. You will conduct detailed investigations across a range of files, including corporate, insurance, legal, and community matters, while adhering to provincial legislation and professional standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and executing surveillance operations, gathering and preserving evidence, interviewing witnesses, analyzing documentation and open-source intelligence, and preparing clear, well-structured investigative reports. You will collaborate with internal teams and external clients to understand case objectives, provide regular updates, and offer fact-based findings that support legal, corporate, and community decisions. The role requires disciplined time management, discretion, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote environment, including occasional travel within Nova Scotia as required.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Investigation, including planning, executing, and documenting investigative activities.
- Proficiency in Surveillance and Claim Investigation, with the ability to conduct discreet field operations and gather admissible evidence.
- Experience in Fraud Investigations and Investigative Reporting, including analyzing complex information and producing clear, objective reports.
- Valid Nova Scotia Private Investigator license (or eligibility to obtain), with a strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and privacy requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional reports and testify clearly if required.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple files, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with computers, case management tools, and online research/OSINT techniques; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are assets.
- Previous experience in law enforcement, military, insurance, legal, or corporate investigation environments is considered an advantage.
