About the Role
BMI is seeking a creative, motivated, and socially savvy Community Engagement & Social Media Assistant to strengthen and grow our digital presence across all major platforms this Summer for 8 weeks. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where ideas are valued, content reaches real audiences, and contributions directly support a mission that matters.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
· Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and other relevant platforms in a timely and professional manner
· Foster meaningful, positive interactions that strengthen BMI's relationships with its online community
· Address community questions, feedback, and concerns with care, consistency, and professionalism
Content Creation & Management
· Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and curate high-quality, on-brand content across all social channels
· Maintain a consistent daily posting schedule to ensure timely and strategic content delivery
· Produce visually compelling posts, including graphics, short-form video, and captions designed to drive engagement and community growth
Growth & Strategy
· Support the development and execution of social media strategies aligned with BMI's organizational goals and brand identity
· Monitor key performance metrics, including engagement rates, reach, impressions, follower growth, and campaign outcomes
· Recommend and implement tactics to expand BMI's audience, increase interactions, and strengthen brand loyalty
Monitoring & Reporting
· Track social media trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to surface new engagement and growth opportunities
· Prepare and deliver clear, actionable weekly performance reports with insights and strategic recommendations
· Identify potential influencers, community advocates, and strategic partners who can amplify BMI's mission and reach
Collaboration
· Work closely with the marketing and content teams to ensure all social media activities align with BMI's broader brand objectives and campaign calendar
· Contribute to the planning and promotion of digital campaigns supporting BMI events, program launches, and community initiatives
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies
· Demonstrated passion for social media, digital storytelling, and community-driven communication
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high standard of professionalism and attention to detail
· Familiarity with social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Sprout Social
· Experience with content creation tools including Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, or similar platforms
· Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
· Sound understanding of social media trends, influencer marketing strategies, and community-building best practices
· Creative thinker with strong organizational capabilities and a results-oriented mindset
Education & Experience
· Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a post-secondary program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline (preferred)
· Prior experience managing social media accounts for an organization, brand, club, or student group is considered a strong asset

Build fluency in social analytics — engagement rates, reach, impressions, and follower growth — to support data-informed strategy
· Content Creation & Visual Design: Develop graphics, short-form video, and branded visual content using Canva, CapCut, and Adobe Express. Apply best practices in digital branding, visual communication, and storytelling across formats
· AI & Workflow Automation: Leverage AI-powered tools to support content ideation, caption drafting, trend analysis, and post optimization. Develop a practical understanding of how AI enhances workflow efficiency while preserving authenticity and brand voice
· Data Analytics & Performance Reporting: Generate and present weekly performance reports using digital dashboards and analytics platforms. Build the ability to interpret data, recognize patterns, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
· Collaboration & Digital Productivity: Work across tools such as Slack, Trello, Asana, Google Workspace, and Zoom. Strengthen habits in digital organization, remote collaboration, and project coordination
· Foundational AI Literacy: Understand how algorithms influence content visibility on social platforms, explore the ethical dimensions of AI use — including bias, privacy, and representation — and learn how to apply AI responsibly in a professional communications context

Pay: $17.60 per hour
