About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Deputy Merchandiser / Assistant buyer – Menswear to lead our Menswear category across our growing retail network of 12 stores in Jharkhand. The ideal candidate should possess strong merchandising expertise, category management skills, vendor management capabilities, and a deep understanding of fashion retail trends to drive sales, profitability, and inventory efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Category & Merchandise Management
- Develop and execute category strategies for Menswear to achieve sales and inventory targets.
- Plan seasonal assortments, product mix, pricing, and promotions.
- Analyze category performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
Buying & Vendor Management
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing, margins, and delivery schedules.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers and brands.
- Ensure timely procurement and replenishment of merchandise.
Inventory & Planning
- Optimize stock levels across all stores.
- Monitor sell-through, stock aging, and inventory turnover.
- Plan allocations and replenishments based on store-wise performance.
- Minimize stock-outs and excess inventory.
Sales & Profitability
- Drive category revenue and profitability.
- Monitor KPIs such as sales, margins, inventory turns, sell-through, and GMROI.
- Collaborate with store operations teams to improve product availability and presentation (VISUAL MERCHANDISING STANDARDS).
Team Leadership
- Coordinate with operations, marketing, warehouse, and finance departments.
- Ensure smooth execution of category plans across all locations.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
- Graduate/Post Graduate in Fashion Management, Retail Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience
- 4-6+ years of experience in Apparel Retail Merchandising, Buying, or Category Management.
- Minimum 3 years handling Menswear category in a retail environment.
- Experience with multi-store retail operations preferred.
