About the Bender JCC:
The Bender Jewish Community Center in Rockville, Maryland is a premier community center at the heart of Jewish life in Montgomery County, operating a full scale health and fitness center, pre-school, day camp and variety of education and arts programs.

Core Responsibilities include:
- Plan, direct, and implement photography of camp throughout the summer under the direction of the Assistant Camp Director. Work with camp staff to photograph camp-wide special events and activities.
- Prepare for camp by creating a shot list of camp groups, requesting supplies if needed and anything else necessary to ensure success.
- Assist with posting photographs on various platforms.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers served, interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations, and appropriately model behavior and use positive behavior-management techniques - enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
- Verbally communicate with staff and campers while participating with groups, and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
- Recognize, respond to and report any environmental and/or other hazards related to the activity or the program.
- Pack all materials and supplies at end of camp season and submit inventory to the Assistant Camp Director.
- Evaluate current program and make suggestions for following season.
- Attend scheduled camp staff meetings
- Comply with and participate in the County, State and American Camp Association requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned.
Qualifications include:
- Access to a device with reliable internet access for virtual orientation, meetings, and potential virtual programming.
- Ability to get on the floor to participate and supervise activities.
- Ability to move equipment and supplies as required.
- College credits/degree preferred.
- Prior experience working in the program area.
- Prior experience working with school-aged campers of all abilities.
- Ability to adapt all planned activities to include campers with disabilities.
- Strong written and spoken language skills.
- Be accepting of, and sensitive to the diverse racial, national, sexual orientation, gender identity, abilities, religious and cultural backgrounds of everyone at Lessans Camp JCC.
- Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changes in schedule, responsibilities, and Lessans Camp JCC activities as needed.
Priority will be given to candidates who are available the entire camp season starting on June 15 going through August 7.
Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $5,000 - $5,800 (total pay for the regular camp season). Salary is determined based on experience including previous experience at Lessans Camp JCC. Current educators, relevant degree, and advanced certification bonuses available.
