Role Overview:
As an employment lawyer at Bechtel, you will be an integral part of the Global Labor and Employment Law team, providing essential support to Bechtel's business and stakeholders in India. Based in Bechtel's Gurugram office, you will be responsible for handling various legal matters with minimal supervision. Your role will involve serving as a trusted legal advisor, ensuring compliance with Indian labor laws, drafting and updating employment documentation, managing disputes, and representing Bechtel in legal proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted legal advisor to HR, Employee Relations, and business teams on employment and labor law matters.
- Ensure compliance with Indian labor and employment laws across Bechtel offices and projects.
- Draft, review, and update employment terms, HR policies, and workforce documentation.
- Advise on employee consultations, labor authority filings, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Manage employment-related disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and engagement with external counsel.
- Prepare and negotiate employment agreements for India operations.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior stakeholders on legal risks.
- Deliver training programs on labor and employment law for HR and management.
- Represent Bechtel India in labor and employment proceedings and facilitate communication between stakeholders.
Qualification Required:
- India qualified lawyer with 8-10 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal team.
- Licensed to practice law in one or more states in India.
- Experience in advising multinational organizations on labor and employment law.
- Strong knowledge of Indian federal and state labor and employment laws.
- Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
