Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Patent Associate with 3-6 years of experience for its Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic intellectual property team dedicated to expanding and protecting clients' IP portfolios.
Duties
- Collaborate with clients to develop and protect intellectual property portfolios.
- Interface with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements related to intellectual property.
Requirements
- 3-6 years of experience in patent law.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software, or Computer Science.
- Admission to the USPTO or eligibility to take the Patent Bar.
- Prior experience with consumer electronics, software, or related fields preferred.
- Excellent academic performance.
- Strong writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) required.
Certifications
- Admission to the USPTO or eligibility to take the Patent Bar.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in data structures, data storage, and databases.
- Experience with generative AI and machine learning is a plus.
