Role Purpose

Lead the planning, operation, optimization, and statutory compliance of all plant utilities while ensuring high reliability, cost efficiency, sustainability, and seamless coordination with government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Utility Operations & Reliability Leadership

  • Ensure 100% utility availability with zero impact on production
  • Drive uptime improvement actions and system stabilization
  • Monitor critical parameters and implement control strategies

2. Maintenance & Reliability Engineering

  • Own Preventive, Predictive, and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM)
  • Lead advanced RCA (5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, A3 Analysis)
  • Improve MTBF and reduce repeat failures

3. Utility Systems Ownership

End-to-end responsibility for:

  • Compressed Air Systems
  • Cooling Towers & Chilled Water Systems
  • HVAC & Ventilation, Air Handling Units
  • Water Treatment (RO, DM, Softener, Chemical dosing)
  • Electrical Systems (Transformers, DG, Panels, UPS, Servo, LT /HT, Open Access)

4. Energy Management & Sustainability

  • Drive plant energy efficiency roadmap
  • Optimize consumption (kWh, Nm³, KL) and reduce costs
  • Lead sustainability initiatives (water reuse, energy reduction, decarbonization)

5. Government Liaison & Statutory Compliance

  • Act as single point of contact with authorities:
  • Pollution Control Board
  • Electrical Inspectorate (DHBVN)
  • HSPCB, Waste Management
  • Fire & Safety Department
  • Local Municipal / Water Authorities- HSIDC
  • Manage:
  • Licenses, renewals, and statutory documentation
  • Inspections, audits, and compliance closure
  • Environmental reporting (water discharge, emissions)
  • Obtain approvals for new installations / expansions
  • Ensure zero regulatory non-compliance risk

6. ESH Governance

  • Ensure compliance with ESH standards and regulatory norms
  • Implement LOTO, PTW, confined space practices
  • Support ESH audits and zero-incident culture
  • Support Sustainability initiatives along with ESH team.

7. Vendor & Contract Management

  • Manage vendors, AMC/ CMC contracts, and service providers
  • Validate technical solutions and execution quality
  • Ensure cost and safety compliance

8. Digitalization & Monitoring

  • Develop utility dashboards and KPIs
  • Implement IoT / automated monitoring systems
  • Drive data-driven decision making

9. Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead capex and utility improvement projects
  • Drive Six Sigma / Kaizen initiatives
  • Support plant expansion and infrastructure projects

10. Facility & Infrastructure Support

  • Ensure proper workplace environmental conditions
  • Support facility maintenance and future expansion planning

Technical Knowledge Requirement (Advanced & Expert Level)

  • Utility system fundamentals:
  • Compressed air system design, leak analysis, pressure optimization
  • Cooling tower performance, heat load calculations
  • HVAC load calculations and air balancing
  • Water chemistry & treatment:
  • RO/DM operations, scaling, dosing control, TDS/pH optimization
  • Electrical systems:
  • Load calculations, DG synchronization basics, power factor control
  • Maintenance systems:
  • Preventive & predictive maintenance planning
  • Basic vibration, thermography, and condition monitoring
  • Data analysis:
  • Trend analysis of utility consumption and performance
  • Safety systems:
  • Electrical safety, pressure systems, chemical handling

✅ Expert Level Knowledge (Should Know)

Advanced system optimization:

  • Energy optimization (specific energy reduction: kWh/Nm³, kW/TR)
  • System integration & automation (BMS / SCADA / IoT-based monitoring)
  • Utilities design & sizing:
  • Compressor sizing, piping networks, pressure drop calculations
  • Chiller & cooling tower selection and system balancing
  • Advanced electrical knowledge:
  • Load flow concepts, HT/LT systems, reliability planning
  • Water treatment expertise:
  • Chemical dosing strategy (corrosion, scaling, bio-control)
  • Effluent management and reuse strategies
  • Reliability engineering:
  • FMEA, RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance), lifecycle costing
  • Regulatory expertise:
  • Deep understanding of statutory norms (PCB, electricity, boiler laws)
  • Project management:
  • Capex planning, ROI evaluation, supplier technical validation
  • Digital transformation:
  • Data-driven optimization using dashboards & predictive analytics

Education
