About the Role
The Social Media Consultant will spearhead the department's digital communication strategy, managing a large-scale team of professionals to amplify initiatives, policies, and public engagement across platforms like X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and emerging channels. This role ensures transparent, citizen-centric communication while mitigating risks in a high-stakes public sector environment. With a focus on performance metrics, crisis management, and compliance with government guidelines, the Consultant will drive measurable impact on public awareness and participation.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media roadmap aligned with departmental objectives. Oversee multi-platform strategies. Integrating AI tools for analytics and personalization.
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and optimize a team divided into pods (e.g., content creators, analysts, community managers, designers/videographers, strategists). Conduct performance reviews, capacity planning, and training on protocols, tools, and data privacy (DPDP Act). Delegate projects, foster cross-functional collaboration, and manage vendor empanelment's.
Content Oversight: Approve high-volume content (daily posts, campaigns, live sessions) ensuring accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to accessibility standards. Coordinate with policy teams for real-time updates on schemes, events, and crises.
Engagement & Crisis Management: Monitor public sentiment via advanced analytics; direct rapid response protocols for queries, misinformation, or controversies. Build influencer partnerships and citizen feedback loops to enhance governance.
Performance Analytics: Define KPIs, report quarterly to senior leadership using dashboards. Optimize ROI on ad spends (e.g., Meta ecosystem) and recommend tech integrations.
Compliance & Innovation: Ensure adherence to NIC guidelines, cyber hygiene, and RTI transparency.
Qualifications
Education: Master's in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, or MBA (Digital Marketing); certifications in Google Analytics, Meta Blueprint, or government social media frameworks preferred.
Experience
10+ years in social media management, with 4+ years leading teams >50 in Corporate / public sector/government. Proven track record in high-engagement corporate / govt projects
Required Skills
Expertise in strategy, team leadership, analytics content tools and crisis communications.
Strong understanding of Indian digital landscape, multilingual proficiency (Hindi/English).
Preferred Skills
Strategic thinker, resilient under pressure, ethical (zero tolerance for fake news), data-driven, with excellent stakeholder management.
