Job Description
Job Title: Associate Professor – Computer Science & Software Engineering (Industry-Integrated)
Location: Bangalore, India (On-site)
Department: Atria Center of Excellence in AI and Decentralized Technologies
Employment Type: Full-Time
The Opportunity
Are you a seasoned software architect who finds as much joy in explaining the elegance of a B-tree as you do in scaling a distributed system? Atria University is reimagining STEM education in the heart of India’s tech capital. We are looking for an Associate Professor who doesn't just live in textbooks but has "dirt under their fingernails" from building real-world, scalable software. This isn't a traditional "chalk and talk" role; it’s a position for a builder-educator who understands that in the era of Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and LLMs, the way we teach Computer Science must evolve.
What You’ll Do
- Modern Pedagogy: Design and deliver core courses including Software Design & Architecture, AI augmented Software Engineering, Algorithms & Complexity
- The AI Pivot: Lead the shift in how we teach programming. You will help students navigate a world where AI generates code, focusing on Code Tracing, debugging, and high-level system design rather than just syntax memorization.
- Architectural Leadership: Act as a Technical Architect for the university’s internal and collaborative research projects, ensuring our academic output is backed by production-grade infrastructure.
- Mentorship: Bridge the gap between campus and the Bangalore tech ecosystem, preparing students for the rigors of modern engineering teams.
Who You Are
- The Academic Core: You hold a PhD in Computer Science (or a related field) and have a proven track record of teaching excellence, particularly in introductory and foundational courses.
- The Industry Veteran: You have significant experience working on real-world, scalable software engineering projects. You’ve seen systems break at scale and know how to fix them.
- The Systems Thinker: You are deeply passionate about:
- Data Structures & Algorithms: You can explain O(n log n) without breaking a sweat.
- Databases: You know when to use Postgres and when to reach for DynamoDB or MongoDB.
- Design & Architecture: You think in terms of microservices, event-driven patterns, and clean code.
- The Adaptable Educator: You aren't threatened by AI tools like Claude Code; you are excited by them. You have the mental agility to pivot your teaching methods to focus on logic, architecture, and "Applied Programming through Code Tracing."
Why Join Us?
- Location: Based in Bangalore, you’ll be at the epicenter of global tech innovation.
- Innovation Autonomy: We give you the room to experiment with how CS is taught. Want to use AI as a teaching assistant? We encourage it.
- Impact: You will shape the next generation of engineers who will build the software of the 2030s.
