Role Summary - Consultant (4 hrs a day, 6 days a week)

The Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for delivering structured, evidence-based psychological care, ensuring measurable clinical improvement, engaging families in the treatment process, promoting treatment adherence, and maintaining high standards of professional discipline and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Assessment & Therapy

• Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments.
• Develop and document individualized treatment plans for all assigned cases.
• Deliver structured therapy sessions as per caseload benchmark (minimum three sessions per week per patient where applicable).
• Use standardized psychological assessment tools wherever clinically relevant.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation, updating progress notes within 24 hours.

2. Clinical Outcomes & Progress Monitoring

• Monitor symptom progression using standardized scales and measurable indicators.
• Ensure structured relapse prevention planning for all discharge cases.
• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and the multidisciplinary team.
• Minimize therapy dropout through engagement and therapeutic alliance.

3. Family Meetings & Psychoeducation

• Attend and actively participate in scheduled family meetings.
• Conduct structured psychoeducation sessions for all IPD cases.
• Provide documented psychoeducation summaries in patient files.
• Conduct discharge counselling sessions with families.

4. Treatment Adherence & Motivation

• Conduct structured motivation sessions within the first five days of admission.
• Assess and document readiness for change (Stages of Change Model or equivalent).
• Encourage patients to complete their recommended treatment program.
• Implement strategies to reduce premature discharge.

5. Professional Discipline & Continuity of Care

• Maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.
• Avoid unauthorized leave and missed therapy sessions.
• Ensure proper case handover during planned leave.
• Inform reporting authority immediately in case of emergencies.
• Ensure continuity of care during absences.

Qualifications

• M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology (RCI Licensed) or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Valid RCI Registration (Mandatory).
