General Purpose

Leads and manages overall mine operations to meet quality, quantity, and timely delivery of

minerals for processing acceptable quality and quantity of raw materials in a timely and efficient

manner to meet customer demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Makes recruitment and hiring recommendations of competent mining personnel and be responsible for their performance.

2. Decides on need for and directs employees; workflow planning and scheduling for mine operations, planning and reclamation, training and first line disciplinary issues.

3. Sets policies and procedures for mining and maintenance related to quality and safety issues.

4. Manages and oversees the hauling of 4 million tons of raw material annually while assuring that the appropriate quantity and quality of crude material is delivered to various customers in a timely and most efficient manner.

5. Manages the work of approximately 30-40 mine employees.

6. Ensures the most efficient, effective and economical methods of mining operations by managing the implementation of contingency plans that maximize the utilization of people, materials and equipment involved in:

· Timber and overburden removal

· Mining

· Hauling

· Reclamation

· Mine processing

7. Ensures timely and efficient delivery of crude minerals by providing recommendations for the repair and preventive maintenance of equipment and facilities, and by managing process improvements for areas.

8. Ensures cost-effective mine operations by providing complete, accurate and timely reporting of productivity measures and costs associated with all mining activities, by participating in the coordination of purchasing and maintenance requirements, and by recommending process improvements.

9. Maintains compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations by managing local initiatives that provide yearly improvement.

10. Must clearly & effectively communicate well with employees.

11. Assist other mine supervisors as needed.

12. May perform other duties as directed by the President/CEO.

Competencies / Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

1. Minimum 5 years’ experience to include knowledge of mine planning, mining and processing equipment and methods. .

2. Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in mining or heavy construction.

3. Knowledge of surveying, mineral leases, and contract management.

4. Must work in different weather conditions such as cold, heat, ice, mud, wind and dust.

5. Must work around noise, heights, and vibrations.

6. Requires climbing to heights of 15ft & ability to operate heavy equipment.

7. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

8. Must be able to bend, squat, and dig to re-position pump motors used to remove water from mine pits.
