Job Description

Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation (API) brings life-saving research to the real world by helping life science innovators bridge the gap between academic research and commercial product development. API is currently seeking a Technical Product Manager, IT to join our team for an 18-month contract position, covering a maternity leave. The Technical Product Manager, IT is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and delivery of API-driven solutions that support business operations and integrations. This role works cross-functionally with business stakeholders, developers, and vendors to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient systems. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with product management expertise to drive initiatives from concept through implementation.

This is temporary maternity leave coverage contract starting June 1, 2026.

Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the specification, procurement, budgeting, and implementation of IT infrastructure for new facility builds, including the CMPC site
  • Oversee installation, validation, and testing of critical IT systems to ensure readiness and compliance
  • Manage and support core IT infrastructure, including Active Directory, Okta, Monday.com, Novatek, Absorb LMS, AWS cloud, physical servers, and Cisco network infrastructure (firewalls, switches)
  • Own API and system integration initiatives, ensuring seamless connectivity across enterprise platforms and third-party solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, procedures, and IT policies
  • Support the setup and ongoing IT operations of GMP labs, ensuring systems meet regulatory and operational standards
  • Maintain and enhance backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements across the IT landscape
  • Manage external vendors and partners to support infrastructure and integration initiatives

Qualifications - (Education, Certification, Degree, Skills, Knowledge, etc.)

Education

  • Master, Bachelor or Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Certifications in PMP, Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or AWS certifications is an asset.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required.
  • Hands-on experience with core IT infrastructure, including cloud platforms (AWS), Active Directory, identity management (Okta), and networking (Cisco – firewalls, switches), and API design, system integrations, and enterprise architecture.
  • Proven experience in backup and disaster recovery strategies and best practices.
  • Knowledge in creating and maintaining technical documentation, including SOPs, policies, and procedures
  • Proven ability to manage full product lifecycle, from requirements gathering to delivery and support
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Strong experience working in Agile environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, and iterative delivery
  • Ability to define and prioritize user stories, manage product backlogs, and align deliverables with business value
  • Experience in vendor management, procurement processes, and budgeting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in stakeholder management, effectively translating business needs into technical solutions
  • Familiarity with GMP environments and Computer System Validation (CSV) processes (IQ/OQ/PQ) is a strong asset
  • Experience supporting laboratory systems or lab IT environments is an asset.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance frameworks is an asset.
  • Exposure to data integration tools or middleware platforms is an asset.
  • Experience with enterprise applications such as Monday.com, LMS platforms (e.g., Absorb), and laboratory systems (e.g., Labx, Open Lab, ), Quality tools : Compliance Wise, Novatek is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Required travel between Edmonton API sites.
  • This position requires you to be on site.
