Frontend Developer - HCI & 3D

Hybrid in Toronto, no set days to be in office as such.

We are looking for an HCI & UI Developer to help design and build intuitive, high-impact user interfaces for our research platforms. You will contribute to foundational UI components that enable engineers and designers to interact with complex, AI-driven systems—especially in 3D and CAD-adjacent environments. This role is ideal for a frontend engineer who enjoys working close to research teams and translating complex technical concepts into elegant, usable interfaces.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional UI / Frontend development experience
• Strong expertise in React and Next.js
• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript
• Solid understanding of UI/UX and HCI principles
• Experience building responsive, scalable web applications
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Education - Bachelor of Computer Science or similar

Responsibilities

• Design and develop an interactive decomposition canvas for mechanical assemblies
• Build core HCI components enabling smooth, responsive user interactions
• Develop UI for requirements capture, guided inputs, and structured data editing
• Implement authentication flows and per-user project persistence UI
• Create UI controls for simulation output visualization and kinematic movement in 3D contexts
• Collaborate closely with research scientists and engineers to refine UI concepts
• Participate in iterative design and feedback cycles, improving usability and performance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Three.js or other 3D web visualization libraries
• Familiarity with CAD tools or engineering/design workflows
• Exposure to data visualization or graph-based UI frameworks
• Python experience, especially with LangGraph or LLM agents
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilotkit, etc.)
