Job Title: Inventory Manger
Department: Sales / Operations
Reports To: General Manager / Sales Manager
Position Overview:
The Inventory Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of dealership vehicle inventory, including new and used vehicles. This role ensures vehicles are properly received, stocked, merchandised, organized, and prepared for sale. The position also oversees dealer trades, vehicle transportation, wholesale and retail deliveries, and inventory logistics to ensure smooth operations across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory of all new and used vehicles.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing inventory including dealer trades, auction purchases, and manufacturer shipments.
- Ensure vehicles are properly entered and tracked in the dealership management system (DMS).
- Conduct routine physical inventory checks to maintain accuracy.
- Organize and maintain dealership lot structure for efficiency and presentation.
Merchandising & Lot Management
- Ensure all vehicles are properly merchandised for retail sale including window stickers, pricing, and online listings.
- Coordinate vehicle photography and online inventory presentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle display across the lot and showroom.
- Ensure vehicles are frontline ready with proper fuel levels, cleanliness, and documentation.
Dealer Trades & Logistics
- Coordinate and manage dealer exchanges and trades with other dealerships.
- Arrange transportation and scheduling for vehicle transfers and deliveries.
- Handle wholesale vehicle movement and coordination with auctions when needed.
Vehicle Deliveries & Pickups
- Manage logistics for retail and wholesale vehicle deliveries and pickups.
- Coordinate internal movement of vehicles between sales, service, and detail departments.
- Ensure vehicles are prepared and ready for customer delivery.
Operational Coordination
- Work closely with sales managers, service, and detail departments to ensure inventory readiness.
- Monitor aging inventory and assist management with inventory rotation strategies.
- Maintain compliance with dealership processes and inventory procedures.
Qualifications
- Automotive dealership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Experience with dealership inventory systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, etc.) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and organize large vehicle lots.
- Ability to drive manual and automatic vehicles.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Pay: $31,200.00 - $41,600.00 per year
