About The Role
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Plant Mechanic to support operations in our Ready Mix division. This role is responsible for Maintaining and repairing ready mix plant equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and mechanical systems, to ensure safe and reliable operations. Diagnose equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance, and complete repairs efficiently to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
What You'll Accomplish
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on ready mix concrete plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Maintain and repair pneumatic systems, including air compressors, valves, cylinders, air lines, and related components.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, hoses, cylinders, power units, and control valves.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair conveyor systems, including conveyor belts, rollers, pulleys, idlers, bearings, and drive components.
- Perform mechanical repairs on batch plants, aggregate handling equipment, mixers, and material transfer systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify root causes to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all plant equipment and mobile support equipment.
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and installation of replacement parts and equipment modifications as needed.
- Replace and align bearings, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, and drive systems.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, blueprints, and maintenance documentation.
- Assist with plant shutdowns, equipment installations, and capital improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.
- Coordinate with operations personnel to prioritize repairs and maintain production schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work area.
- Participate in emergency repairs and after-hours maintenance activities when required.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
What We 're Looking For
- Education: High school diploma or GED (required).
- Field of Study Preferred: Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.
- Required Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in ready mix concrete, aggregates, mining, construction materials, or other heavy industrial environments, with demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and mechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment.
- Experience maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, hoses, and valves.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems, compressed air equipment, and air-operated controls.
- Experience with conveyor systems, conveyor belts, pulleys, rollers, bearings, and drive components.
- Welding, cutting, and basic fabrication skills.
- Ability to diagnose equipment failures and implement effective repair solutions.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company and OSHA standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment drawings.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
