The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-performing Cloud Accountant with a demonstrated track record of independently managing a portfolio of clients and delivering high-quality financial outputs in a fast-paced, cloud-based environment.
This position is designed for an individual already operating at a senior level, who is prepared to take full ownership of client relationships, proactively identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of service delivery.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients and collaborate closely with internal specialists across bookkeeping, payroll, and tax functions.
This role offers a clear pathway toward progression into a Senior Accountant or Client Manager position, based on performance and demonstrated impact.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Delivery
- Manage a portfolio of Canadian clients, ensuring all deliverables are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with client expectations
- Maintain full ownership of the accounting cycle, including month-end and quarter-end close processes, accounts payable/receivable oversight, and sales tax filings
- Prepare year-end financial statements, supporting working papers, and coordinate hand-off to the tax function
- Act as the primary liaison for client communications, ensuring all inquiries are addressed within one business day
- Collaborate effectively with internal team members to resolve client matters and maintain a high standard of service delivery
Financial Reporting & Advisory
- Deliver periodic financial reporting and analysis, providing meaningful insights to support client decision-making
- Participate in client meetings via virtual platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for designated clients
- Contribute to ad hoc financial advisory engagements as required
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality within client service processes
- Partner with internal stakeholders to implement process improvements and standardized workflows
- Leverage cloud-based tools and emerging technologies, including AI, to optimize service delivery
- Contribute to the development of documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials
Required Qualifications (Must-Have Criteria)
- 3+ years of Canadian accounting experience in a client-facing capacity
- 3+ years of experience managing a portfolio of 10+ clients simultaneously, with full accountability
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and Xero
- Demonstrated ability to manage engagements end-to-end, including month-end close, file review, and direct client communication
- Strong technical proficiency in reconciliations, sales tax filings (GST/HST), accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPB designation (completed or in progress)
- Experience within a cloud-based or virtual accounting firm
- Advanced proficiency in cloud accounting tools and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and accountability in a deadline-driven environment

Pay: $68,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
