Summary:
The Power BI Analyst will be responsible for analyzing business reporting needs; translating requirements into effective data visualizations; and designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards that support decision-making and defined business outcomes. The incumbent will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, BI Developers, Data Engineers, and Solution Architects to ensure reporting solutions are accurate, performant, and aligned with enterprise standards. This role is focused on visualization, report development, and semantic model usage within the AU Business Intelligence ecosystem.
Essential Functions:
1.) Requirements Analysis & Report Design
Work with business units to understand reporting and visualization needs, analyze requirements, and translate business questions into Power BI report designs and user-friendly dashboards. Participate in feasibility discussions and contribute to level-of-effort estimates for reporting solutions.
2.) Power BI Report & Dashboard Development
Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that meet defined business outcomes, following established visualization, usability, and accessibility standards. Utilize certified datasets and semantic models where available and collaborate with BI and Solution Architects to ensure optimal report performance and consistency. Ensure accuracy, reliability, and data quality of all published BI products.
3.) Testing, Enhancement & Governance Compliance
Support user acceptance testing and iterative enhancement of Power BI reports by gathering feedback, addressing issues, and implementing enhancements or bug fixes. Assess the impact of requested changes on timelines and scope and escalate risks or conflicts as appropriate. Ensure adherence to enterprise BI standards, governance practices, and deployment processes.
4.) End-User Support, Documentation & Adoption
Provide ongoing support for AU’s business intelligence solutions, including report documentation, training materials, presentations, and one-on-one assistance to end users. Promote adoption of Power BI through knowledge sharing and best practices.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time.
35 hours per week.
Work schedule and modality: This position works 35 hours per week Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch break in a hybrid modality with one day a month required to be in the office.
After-hours availability: This position requires flexibility in the employee’s work schedule as they must be reasonably available to address production emergencies or critical incidents with the potential for interrupted nights and weekends.
Essential personnel designation: This position is expected to be on call and available to address emergency IT issues. during unplanned closures or emergencies.
Leave blackout period: OIT staff are prohibited from taking non-emergency leave during the three-week period at the start of each semester, this includes the week before the start of the Fall and Spring term and the first two weeks of classes for the Fall and Spring term. Requests for support peak during these times and system availability is also critical, which requires all staff members to be working during these times.
Salary Range:
$37.25 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
2 - 4 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, analytics, or related roles.
Demonstrated experience developing reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
Experience working with enterprise data sources, including relational databases.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
1.) Technical Skills
Strong understanding of Power BI semantic models and data modeling concepts.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting SQL.
Experience with DAX and report performance optimization techniques.
Understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts.
Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Azure).
2.) Analytics & Report Development
Proven ability to translate business requirements into effective visual analytics and dashboards.
Strong attention to data accuracy, quality, and validation practices.
Experience leveraging certified datasets and enterprise semantic models.
3.) Governance & Delivery
Understanding of enterprise BI governance practices, standards, and deployment processes.
Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and change management practices.
Ability to assess impact of changes and manage competing priorities.
4.) Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience facilitating requirements discussions and translating business needs into technical solutions.
Ability to develop documentation, training materials, and support end-user adoption.
5.) Tool & Domain Exposure (Preferred)
Experience with Workday reporting and/or higher education data environments.
Exposure to Salesforce reporting.
Experience supporting user training, knowledge sharing, or BI adoption initiatives.
6.) Work Style
Proactive, results-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
