Job Description

About the job

Allan | Law & Policy is a Toronto-based boutique law, regulatory and policy firm advising cutting-edge clients in the transportation, energy and climate sectors, with particular expertise in electric vehicles (EVs), EV charging and climate regulations and energy project finance. We're hiring a Policy Advisor to join our team — this is an active vacancy for a new full-time role.

In this role, you'll help support the firm's clients, including the Canadian Charging Infrastructure Council (CCIC), a national industry body advancing EV charging infrastructure across Canada. The work involves helping run CCIC's operations, producing its policy research and reports, and advancing its strategic communications and lobbying efforts in close partnership with our founder. You will also have an opportunity to pitch and work on key policy and regulatory files across North America for a range of leading transportation, energy and climate-focused organizations.

The role is open to candidates of any experience level, though we expect those with 4+ years of experience in policy, government relations, communications, or a related field will be best positioned for the work. This is a hybrid role with an expected 2–3 days per week in our downtown Toronto office at 30 Adelaide.

The work: You'll work closely with our founder on team-based files, with a mix of policy report writing, regulatory and policy research, strategic communications (including social media and media relations), and supporting the day-to-day management of CCIC — including coordinating members, working groups and events. Files are interesting, varied and substantive, with direct exposure to our founder and clients.

What we're looking for

  • Strong policy research and writing skills
  • Strategic communications experience, including social media and media relations
  • Highly organized and proactive
  • Background in energy, climate, transportation, or public policy
  • Genuine interest in regulatory and climate work
  • Flexibility, curiosity, and a drive to keep growing
  • Someone who wants to be excellent at their craft and contributes to a collaborative, supportive team

Bonus points for:

  • French fluency
  • Energy, climate, or transportation electrification policy experience
  • Experience supporting industry associations or membership organizations

What we offer

  • Compensation of CAD $100,000 base, plus a performance-based incentive depending on experience
  • Very solid training and direct mentorship from our founder — the kind that will help an ambitious candidate get to the next level
  • Health spending account
  • Professional development budget
  • A collaborative, supportive team that genuinely values how we work together

Our hiring process: Because we review every application personally and do not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or select candidates, we will only contact candidates selected for an interview, but we thank any applicants for their interest. This position will be held open until the selected candidate is found.

Our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion: Allan | Law & Policy is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and accessible workplace where all team members feel valued and respected. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, including Indigenous peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and others who may contribute to the diversity of our firm. Accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code — please let us know if you require any accommodation.
