Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), YVR is made up of a team of diverse people who are working collaboratively to connect BC proudly to the World. Safety is at the core of everything we do; we’re innovative and fun. YVR is on a journey to digitally transform the way we operate the airport. Using a Digital Twin, our in-house development. Operation teams are in the process of delivering various use-cases and situational awareness tools to improve our operation and create efficiencies across the organization. Our goal is to transform the industry. YVR is seeking a UI/UX Consultant to join their team on contract to act as a consultant and support ongoing Digital Twin development.
.Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement user-centered design processes to create seamless, intuitive, and visually compelling user interfaces
- Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for user interfaces, ensuring usability and functionality are optimized for diverse platforms and devices. Prototype and validate ideas before sharing them with the stakeholders
- Collaborate with designers, artists, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into engaging and user-friendly UI designs
- Conduct user testing, gather feedback, and iterate on designs to enhance user experience and address usability issues throughout the development lifecycle
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including UI specifications, guidelines, and assets for easy reference and consistency
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX/UI design, applying new techniques to improve design processes.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience: Proven experience (five years, or more) as a UX/UI Designer with a strong portfolio, demonstrating a deep understanding of user-centered design principles.
- UI/UX Design Skills: Strong proficiency in UX/UI design software (e.g., Figma is mandatory.), with a focus on wireframing, prototyping, and visual design.
- Collaborative Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, articulate design decisions, and incorporate feedback. Discuss and present ideas, solutions, and plans to stakeholders. Work closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to bring designs to life.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify usability issues and iterate designs to enhance user experience.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and quickly learn and apply new technologies and design trends.
- Information Architecture: Create sitemaps, user flows, and process flows to map out product structure, making it easy for people to use the application and find the information they need.
- Wireframing & Prototyping: Develop low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity interactive prototypes to illustrate design concepts and functionality.
- Visual Design (UI): Design graphic user interface elements (menus, widgets, icons, layouts, screens, panels) and ensure visual consistency.
- Bonus Skills: Knowledge of 3D modeling, animation principles, or scripting languages (C#, JavaScript, etc.) is a plus
- Education: Degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
