Job Description
Our client is seeking a seasoned Training & Workforce Development Specialist to support the development and execution of company-wide training initiatives within a fast-paced transit environment. This individual will partner closely with HR leadership and operational departments to create scalable training programs, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and strengthen workforce development strategies across the organization.
The ideal candidate is confident, organized, and experienced in building processes in evolving environments. This role requires someone who can effectively collaborate across departments, influence stakeholders, and drive training initiatives forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement workforce training programs aligned with operational and compliance goals
- Create and maintain training procedures, documentation, and standardized learning materials
- Track certifications, training completion records, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Coordinate internal and third-party training sessions across multiple departments
- Identify workforce skill gaps and recommend training improvements and development strategies
- Support leadership training and coach managers on training processes and systems
- Monitor training effectiveness through reporting, metrics, and performance analysis
- Partner with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and HR teams to support workforce readiness
- Assist with training-related budgeting, vendor coordination, and administrative processes
- Ensure programs remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and company regulations
- Support emergency preparedness exercises and operational readiness initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience within transportation, logistics, manufacturing, construction, utilities, aviation, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience developing or improving training programs, procedures, and workforce development initiatives
- Strong understanding of compliance-driven environments and organizational performance standards
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
- Experience with training systems, reporting tools, or learning management platforms preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational setting
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
- Professional certifications related to training, HR, or organizational development are a plus
- Must possess a valid Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC driver’s license
